i’ve had a sewing machine for over 10 years and still know very little about it. i’ve had “learn to sew” on my resolution list for countless years. needless to say i was thrilled when i heard that nellie & phoeb’s was going to be offering a slew of workshops.
christy squyres, owner, creates the most darling outfits and accessories for her three little girls. i’m so excited to learn from someone like her instead of in a classroom setting at the local community college.
the first workshop will be pattern reading 101 held on november 18th. join me and ashley thompson as we tackle the process of constructing an apron. you’ll bring your own machine, pattern, fabric, thread, scissors, etc. the cost is only $30 for instruction since it’s her introductory class.
don’t know how to thread your machine or sew a straight line? christy is offering a basic sewing class in january (ahem…which i’ll also be attending). she’ll cover everything from turning the machine on, changing feet, basic stitch types, zippers, etc. and in the coming months she’ll do more specific classes such as making toddler dresses, pillow covers, women’s skirts, and more. i just may be at each and every class!
to sign up for these classes or for more information contact christy at email@example.com
i ran the tulsa run (which is my third 5k) . the first was the susan g. komen race for the cure in 2010. my bff had signed up she and her then fiance (now husband) but at the last minute he had to work. she told me “you don’t need to train…you’ll be fine”. we ran almost the whole thing and walked a little. i had to cancel photoshoots days after from being so sore!
my next 5k was the color run in june. i trained a little but never completed the c25k program. we had fun, i wasn’t as sore after, but i felt like i was going to die near the end. i made it a goal of mine to be able to run 5k in under 30 minutes (with no walking) and not be sore for days. i completed that goal a few weeks ago and have been running 5k almost three times per week since then.
this morning i ran in the 5k portion of the tulsa run with my best friend, teah. we met up with my sister & her boyfriend, brian, who were running the full 15k beforehand.
