first day of school

hudson attended a mother’s day out program last year.  since my babies are so close in age i kept ella home with me to have some one-on-one time with her.  so, this year is her first year attending such a program.

here are some photos we took the morning of the first day of school:

results from advocare challenge and meal plan

i am on day 13 of the advocare 24 day challenge.  so far i have gone down a size in jeans (finally back in my skinny jeans!), lost 2 inches in my hips, an inch around my belly, and a couple of pounds as well.

a lot of friends have asked what the diet looks like on the advocare challenge.  it’s not some gimmick-y diet.  it’s truthfully clean eating.  here is a sample of my diet plan:

breakfast:  chocolate meal replacement shake (i LOVE these.  i have a major sweet tooth and i look forward to one every morning).  on days that i don’t have a meal replacement shake i’ll have egg whites with spinach and maybe some fruit.

mid-morning snack:  banana with a tablespoon of natural almond butter.

lunch:  salad topped with chicken.  i vary it up by adding different fruits or vegetables.

afternoon snack:  apple and natural almonds.

dinner:  a grilled chicken breast with lightly steamed vegetables and brown rice.  another favorite has been turkey chili or i mix chicken, onion, and peppers with a homemade fajita seasoning and serve it over brown rice and black beans.  i like doubling servings for dinner so i can have leftovers for lunch.  i’m not one who likes to eat salad for lunch every day. :)

when you sign up for the challenge you’ll receive a sample menu as well as a list of food items allowed and not allowed.  like i said before i was eating similarly to this for a little over a month in conjunction with working out 6 days a week with little to no results.  the advocare supplements have really helped me kick it up a notch and see some exciting results.

just wanted to do an official post with some FAQ information so that i can refer to it when people ask me about it.

also, i chose the MNS3 packets (for weightloss) as well as the chocolate shake:

i have been awful about picking up my camera to document our everyday lives lately.  as documenting life comes to an end i need a little break to just put my camera down and live in the moment a little.

i did, however, capture my littles painting recently:

before and after the advocare challenge

in the beginning of july my husband and i got motivated to get healthy.  we were eating way too much fast food and takeout, drinking alcohol, and hadn’t really exercised in a year.  court decided he was going to do the advocare 24-day cleanse after a friend of ours had done it.  i opted out because quite frankly i was VERY addicted to my diet dr pepper (we’re talking 4-6 sodas a day) which obviously isn’t on the advocare cleanse.  i planned to workout and eat healthy along side him.  court’s 1st day was july 9th – he began working out 7 days a week during the cleanse phase, eating lean protein, fruits, vegetables, and drinking a gallon of water per day in addition to taking the advocare products.  when the challenge was over he had lost 15 pounds and made some pretty dramatic changes to his body.  i have to say i was very impressed – in our eight years together i had never seen him workout for more than a period of a month and his healthy eating had never lasted more than a week.

so, what were my results?  i had stopped drinking caffeine completely and was eating a lot more whole grains, lean protein, fruits, and veggies with a cheat meal once a week.  i started working out 6 days per week and only lost 4 pounds (as of a few days ago – a whole 6 weeks later).  still in the same size clothing i was before and frankly i was getting frustrated.  i had seen such dramatic changes in my husband…what was i doing wrong?  i started looking more and more into my diet and the so-called diet foods (flavored greek yogurt, fiber one bars, sugar free jello pudding in my protein shakes) that i was eating were full of chemicals, sugar, and junk.  that’s when my husband mentioned trying the cleanse.  i had been talking with him about wanting to start eating clean and this was just the push that i needed to rid of the toxins in my body, jump start my metabolism, and finally stop eating the junk.

i am now on day 3 of my cleanse and my jeans are already fitting more loosely.  i haven’t stepped on the scale yet (tomorrow morning) but i am pumped up about the way that i am feeling and the changes that i am already seeing start to take place.  if anyone would like to join me on this challenge you can find the cleanse products that i am taking below:
