Category Archives: Our Home

Our bedroom has been one of the last places we’ve decorated in our house…mostly because we are the only people in there and it’s taken a backseat.

We were in the market for a new mattress in the Spring and decided to upgrade to a King size bed from our Queen and spruce the place up with a few new touches like a chandelier, new dressers, and personalized decor.  We’ve still got more to complete like a barn door entering our master bathroom and finishing touches when it comes to layering in more decor.

This room is super difficult to photograph due to lack of natural light so I apologize in advance for the subpar pictures.

When we built our house we added a bedroom off of our media room to act as a play room.  To be honest our kids never played in it unless they had friends over.  When it came time to open Gray Monroe we needed storage for all of the clothes and the playroom became an office.  So, we needed options for what to do with all of our toys.  We organized them not only into a toy closet but also spread them throughout the house in an organized (and mostly hidden) fashion.

After killing several real fiddle leaf figs due to not having sufficient light in our home I have opted for fake.  I searched high and low for the best fiddle leaf fig before purchasing and I think I have found it!

As my kids have gotten older we have downsized their toys tremendously.  We went from a playroom to a closet.  And now they really only play with the toys in this space (to be fair they do have a few baskets of larger toys in their room including Ella’s dolls and dollhouse).

This space is technically our dining nook but over time it has converted to somewhat of a playroom.  Since it opens up to our living room I wanted it to not be an eyesore and blend with the style of the rest of our house.

Five years ago we started our first summer vegetable garden.  We had no idea what we were doing, planted way too early, but had a blast tending to it as a family.  Every time I post an image of our garden on Instagram someone sends me an email with a list of questions.

I am no gardening expert but we’ve learned a few things over the years and I thought I would share what we do with ours for those of you that are wanting to start a summer vegetable garden of your very own.
