Content is the most important piece of the puzzle when it comes to blogging. You can have the prettiest blog but if your content isn’t wanting people to come back than you won’t get far. I once heard that each post of yours should be helping your reader feel amazing and want her coming back for more. Meaning, the recipes you post if she took to a party would be raved about. The outfit that she copied from your last post she would get complimented on over and over. The post you wrote about motherhood inspired her to be a better mother or made her feel like she’s not alone in her struggles. Thinking of my blog as a tool to inspire other Moms to be the best version of themselves has really helped me narrow in on what I should be posting about. Planning blog content has helped me create the best possible content for my readers. I wanted to share a little bit about my process with you:

I feel that having an editorial calendar and planning out your posts is key. I created the free printable editorial calendar below which you can download HERE. I list my topics seen above and try to touch on those things each month. Thinking of the holidays and events ahead helps me to create content that is useful.
I also use Google Analytics (if you’re reading this blog and don’t have it installed on yours do it TODAY). It’s useful for so much but most importantly I use it to see what my most popular posts are. This helps me by seeing what my readers are reading and what they are not. I once heard that your top 10 popular posts are those topics that you should touch on at least once a month. I have tried to stick to that as best I can. The result? More return traffic!

If you are struggling to come up with content for your editorial calendar consider taking the Content Brew workshop. The brainstorming sessions that are prompted within the course allowed me to think of enough content for 6 months of blog posts!
I like to do my blogging workflow in batches. For instance, shop for all my DIY projects and recipes for the month in one day. Spend a day photographing all of the different pictures I will need for my posts, a design day where I sit at my computer and design items in Photoshop, and then finally writing days where I write my posts and put it all together. This has helped me to be efficient and knock out many posts in my editorial calendar all at once.
